One option was to perform root canal retreatment if the tooth was still considered restorable.

Another option was to remove the tooth and replace it with a dental implant.

Every patient is different, and the best treatment depends on many factors, including the condition of the tooth, long-term prognosis, and the patient’s personal preferences.

After carefully understanding the advantages and limitations of each option, she decided that a dental implant would provide the most predictable long-term solution.

Replacing the Tooth with a Dental Implant

Following the removal of the infected tooth, adequate healing time was allowed before proceeding with implant treatment.

A dental implant replaces the missing tooth root with a titanium implant placed within the jawbone.

Once healing is complete, a custom-made porcelain crown is attached, restoring both function and appearance.

The result is a replacement tooth that feels stable, functions naturally, and blends beautifully with the surrounding teeth.

A New Beginning

Today, our patient is enjoying her new implant with confidence.

She can chew comfortably again without worrying about recurring infection from the previously affected tooth.

While saving natural teeth is always our first priority, there are situations where replacing a tooth with a dental implant becomes the best long-term solution.

The key is making an informed decision based on careful examination and open discussion.
